ADDED 15 September 2026 · R2.1 · Final desk-research pass for this release
Release decision
The corrected package is suitable for the original agent's formatting and document-integration pass. It is not a commercially validated investment case. Preserve the distinction between published facts, vendor claims, proposed product capabilities and unknown company inputs. No new Canopy pricing, customers, operating permissions or grant awards have been established.
The review reopened the 45 R1/R2 source URLs and checked the high-impact prices, competitor positioning and regulatory claims. It added 21 primary-source records for transaction status, original-document corrections, integration, automation and funding. The register now contains 66 sources. Four original repository documents were inspected for selected high-risk claims; this is not an exhaustive audit of every original document or linked PDF.
Material corrections
| Claim | Correct treatment | Release action |
|---|---|---|
| DroneDeploy closing not verified | Procore reported the acquisition completed in its 9 September 2026 blog [S46]. The July announcement described approximately USD845m cash, subject to adjustments [S47] | Correct current deck/memo and add Procore/DroneDeploy to competition. Report the publication date, not an inferred legal closing date. Do not derive a revenue multiple |
| 600,000 agricultural drones | DJI's April 2026 announcement refers to DJI agricultural drones in use by end 2025 [S14] | Clarify brand-specific denominator; not all manufacturers, unique customers or software TAM |
| “First network”, instant service and universal compatibility | Public offerings already overlap in the US, EU and UK; no universal integration has been built | Replace README promises with hypotheses; require named supported combinations and a buyer-specific advantage |
| Wild Dog Digital USD199 add-on | This is aerial video added to a ground-video booking; standalone aerial video is USD249 [S35] | Clarify wording; retain USD199 photography as its separate listed service |
| Bulgaria average holding size | 132,742 total holdings includes 5,464 without UAA. The reported 35.9ha average applies to 127,278 holdings with UAA [S48] | Keep denominators distinct in original-document merge |
| Bulgaria small-holding boundary | The 37,452 count is the greater than zero and less than 1ha UAA class, not “≤1ha” [S48] | Correct category boundary before publishing an original-table extract |
| FRAME Max USD4.2–9.5m | Current published unit prices depend on order size: USD9.5m for one, USD8.1m for ten, USD6.7m for 100, USD4.2m for 1,000+ [S49] | Do not present bulk price as a single-satellite quote or full mission cost; no bus purchase in seed plan |
| “Fully automated” means no human or permission requirement | Existing automation products and applicable operating categories constrain deployment [S33, S39, S50–53, S66] | Stage the proposal; separate mission automation from unrestricted autonomy |
| General aviation autonomy call is available for Canopy | The reviewed Innovate UK call closed 3 June 2026; it included UAS, excluded counter-UAS, and had further eligibility conditions [S59] | Correct the research-stage misreading of a secondary summary. Use the official scope; no open-call or grant claim |
Numerical references rechecked
| Reference | Verified published value | Qualification retained |
|---|---|---|
| Iowa State 2026 survey, drone application [S01] | USD12.50/acre mean; USD12 median; USD8–16 reported range; 47 responses | Expected custom rates, materials excluded; published range omits minimum and maximum; not paid Canopy invoices |
| Survey machinery labour [S01] | USD24.45/hour; 81 responses | Spraying/harvesting machinery labour, not a qualified drone pilot's loaded cost |
| AcreConnect [S02] | From USD650/user/year, annual billing | Advertised offer, not Canopy willingness to pay |
| Stripe US [S18–19] | Cards 2.9% + USD0.30; ACH 0.8%, USD5 cap; Connect configuration-specific fees | US locale confirmed. Include applicable active-account, payout and routing charges; do not apply US fees to a Bulgarian entity |
| Vercel [S20] | Pro advertised from USD20/month, with usage and seat conditions | Not total deployment cost |
| Wild Dog Digital [S35] | USD199 drone photos; USD249 standalone drone video | Local supplier scope, tax basis unspecified |
| Drone Studio North East [S36] | GBP195 / 295 / 945 / 1,495 including VAT | Different packages, final quote required |
| UK standard VAT [S44] | 20% | GBP195 / 1.20 = GBP162.50; no claim that all Canopy supplies have this treatment |
| Ordnance Survey disclosure [S37] | GBP1,092,200 winning total bid, disclosed February 2024 | Historical procurement; not annual revenue, unit price or a Canopy contract |
| FlyNex [S45] | Free planning tier; enterprise quotation | Entry planning software is not a managed-inspection price |
Area conversion was checked: USD12.50/acre × 2.4710538147 acres/ha = USD30.88817/ha; a 0.2ha example is USD6.17763 before any unmodelled mobilisation or other cost. These arithmetic examples do not establish a viable service price.
Public numerical inputs in the two workbooks remain unchanged. The R1 workbook's explicitly dated July 2026 acquisition reference is historical; use S46–47 and the corrected current deck for transaction status. Company inputs remain blank. No forecast was filled from competitor prices, and no R&D hardware cost or grant receipt was fabricated.
Original-document merge instructions
The four inspected originals receive a dated review notice. Their underlying text is preserved as history, so the formatting agent must apply this table rather than treating the notice as a full rewrite.
| Original material | Required action before integration |
|---|---|
docs/Canopy_McKinsey_Style_Paper.md | Correct the Bulgarian population/category definitions. Remove “no incumbent combines” and blanket US 10–25acre minimum claims unless supported by named supplier evidence. Qualify EnduroSat prices by order size |
docs/Canopy_Scale_Roadmap.md | Treat instant/global availability as a target subject to local delivery and approvals. Shared software architecture does not confer public-safety or military qualification |
docs/Canopy_Startup_Plan.md | Merge the newer narrow commercial experiment and separate R&D track. Replace first/only claims and automatic compliance promises with tested acceptance requirements |
product/operator-fleet-ingest.md | A phone/iPad in a truck reports crew/device position, not the aircraft flight path or applied coverage. Label provenance. A telemetry export is not automatically a legally accepted pesticide application record |
| Any reused original TAM or cost paragraph | Global farm counts/shares and the 2024 Bulgarian area series were not fully revalidated here. Hold them out of the current investor headline until the primary table, year and denominator are confirmed. Free access to Sentinel imagery is not zero all-in processing/storage/delivery cost |
The Bulgarian source is the 2020 census results publication, No406, October 2022, hosted in 2023. Do not relabel it a 2026 census or combine its holdings denominator with a later land-use series. No original author analysis has been silently deleted.
Regulatory and funding scope
US chemical dispensing remains a distinct FAA/other-authority issue [S15]. EU aerial pesticide restrictions and the pending 2025/0409(COD) proposal must not be conflated [S16–17]. The reviewed UK HSE guidance still distinguishes limited experimental permits from commercial pesticide product authorisation [S25]. Photography, survey, spraying, BVLOS and sensitive public programmes require different qualifications. The ICO drone guidance itself carries an update/review notice [S42].
For automation, use the EASA automatic/autonomous distinction and the actual operating approval. The FAA BVLOS page reviewed describes a proposal; no future Part108 entitlement is assumed. Funding status is dated in the R&D memo. EIC Accelerator maturity, EIC Transition's prior-result requirement, Pathfinder topic fit and Eurostars national rules are gating conditions, not administrative details.
Remaining diligence
Customer interviews, signed quotes, reference customers, repeat paid demand, OEM agreements, sensor validation, patent/FTO work, permissions and regulator discussions, supplier credentials, insurance, BFSA record acceptance, a grant-eligible legal entity and a funded consortium remain unproven. No competitor performance claims were independently audited. No primary source establishes a credible twelve-month unicorn probability.
Static build, anchors, downloads, release metadata and source IDs will be checked for R2.1. Real browser rendering remains unverified because the prior environment blocked the preview URL; the original agent must use its permitted environment. This pass does not imply native Excel testing, live flight tests or Vercel publication.
See source-audit-r2-1.json for the per-source evidence classification and sources.json for direct links. Formatting does not update the research date; refresh time-sensitive funding and operating rules before an application or flight.
